Thumbs down UPDATE!

Everyone, before I even check all the messages I have let me apologize for my absence. Last weekend I went off-roading and apparently caught some kind of virus while I was out. By Monday morning my legs felt like I had run 50 miles over night and my throat was swollen almost shut. Tuesday morning I couldn't get out of bed to go to work. By Wed. I was at urgent care being swabbed for H1N1 and every muscle on me felt like it was on fire and that I had been working out non stop. We've all been sick before but I've never had flu symptoms with a body ache so bad I couldn't move. They got me on Tamiflu and it turned out I didn't have H1N1 but they couldn't figure out why my muscles hurt so bad.

I ended up not racing in NY Sat. for GNCC which now means I can't place for the end of the year since I will only have 8 races. I'm pissed beyond belief especially since I'm in the top 10 even with missing last weekends race. Anyway they did blood and urine tests and it turns out my body released an unusual amount of something into my muscles and it breaks them down and makes them feel fatigued. Normal count of emphrames or whatever she said they are is 184-220 my count last Friday was 395.

So for anyone who has been waiting on a reply or kit I apologize I've been down for the count for a week now. Plus my wife is due 9/28/09 so any energy I've had has been going towards new baby stuff.

thanks for understanding
Mike

Sounds like too much Lactic Acid being released to the muscles. After a good days workout i drink a tablespoon of Glutamine in a glass of water and it keeps the levels down. Also helps repair the muscles faster since the lactic acid is at a lower state. Glad your good to go!!

MPTony: maybe that's what she was calling it on the phone I couldn't understand the lady. I eat bananas and oranges all the time and usually it helps with any muscle cramps etc. But nothing helped this time even all the water I normally drink i doubled it and I was still a mess.

I'm almost back to normal but it's still tough to pull a clutch. I'm going to do some laps tonight to see how it goes. It sucks not being able to do all the things I normally do. Pick up my little girl, help my wife, chop fire wood, race quads etc... I had to have my 9month preggo wife open a vitamin water for me last Thursday.

Thanks guys

Wow that does suck. I will say if you've never used Glutamine go to your local vitamin store and get some. It comes in a bottle in powder form. Drink a tablespoon diluted in a glass of water (its tasteless but a little chalky) before you go to bed that night. The Glutamine will actually counteract with the lactic acid where plain water only dilutes it. when you sleep you become a little dehydrated (which puts the lactic acid back to full strength) and causes the "HIT BY A TRUCK" feeling the day after a race or heavy workout at the gym. I'm a believer...

Yeah, he might be right one thing they preached in track when i ran was the cooldown period. After a hard workout (RACE) you should honestly jog a little to remove the lactic acid and strech. Most ppl don't do it, but you will be surprised how much better you feel.
