Default 700R PIPE SHOOTOUT Singles vs Duals

These test results may not be the same for every build so take that into consideration. Some pipes may not be practical for your needs. Most bikes will not make the same top end pull due to different parts installed, which will come into play when looking for a power increase in "over rev"...Its the sum of all parts used not just the exhaust....in this test u can see some exhaust systems being the limiting factor!

The test bike is my 08 stock bore/ stock stroke
Mods:
Kds CNC +1 valves head
Beehive springs
Kds rj cam
KDS 12.5 piston
+3 .mm kds throttle body
FCI intake no box
Dyantek programmable ignition
evac valve
Head studs w/ stock gaskets
vp110/91 50% @3500 ft elevation....
bolt together motor with the fattest power band available with a 686... nothing special....

THE CONTENDERS:

Weights in LB's/oz
Sparks big core - 9.0
Rossier - 10.2
Hmf - 8.12
Monster duals - 14.13
Barker duals w/billet brackets - 15.6
DMC Force 4 duals 14.0
Ubetrun drag headers - 3.11
Sparks XX6 - 7.15

First off is the ROSSIER, SPARKS BIG CORE, and HMF SPORT.... all full exh systems...no sparkys and no quiet cores.

The new Rossier 16 in. exhaust is very well made, quality and looks are excelent, fitment is good with well made flanges and perfect welds, niice steps too.

The Sparks big core 14 in. exhaust is constructed well, fitment is good but the visual look of the welds is odd and clumpy. Sparks backs it up with the best power out of the three! Well known as one of the best singles for power.

The HMF Sport 16 in. exhaust has a lot of cosmetic appeal wuth the powder coated color can, with very nice welds and fitment is good, but overall construction is cheap compared to the others. Very thin tubing and flanges just wont last with the test of time.

SPARKS XX6 single
This was by far the best fitting and easiest to install exhaust out of the bunch. Very nice but LOUD!
This pipe also had good part throttle power with the ability to be lugged down to 2500 rpm on the dyno....not a drag only pipe!

All the original singles with the addition of the SPARKS xx6

Barker Monster and DMC force 4 duals

This is a matter of personal preference...

The Barker duals fit well (only a slight struggle) and look awesome when equipped with the billet straps, quality material and construction will last for years to come. The billet straps are a mandatory option IMO due to the uneven looks and sagging on the standard straps. no trimming of the plastics required.

The Monster duals fit well if u take the time to install them right, Good mounting brackets, but vibration against the frame and hitting the chain seems to be a common problem. Cutting of the lh rear plastic for clearance is required. These are very nice sounding pipes and produce great power.

The DMC FORCE 4 duals are by far the best fitting dual exhaust ive ran across!!! The can mounting brackets are the best in the business using both grab bar mounting bolts for their anchor... not one per side like the others, this eliminates up and down movement that will eventually wear out the slip connection on the Barkers and Monsters. The reducer cone at the start of the can is Billet and sealed with an O-ring....no messy silicone. Top it all off with slick looking one piece headers, intagrated heat shields, and THICK flanges that wont bend. (my winning choice)

The Barker duals show a slight advantage over the monsters with a stronger mid rpm pull.... this is as close as it gets!

DMC FORCE 4 vs BARKER DUALS

Near identical performance out of both of these pipes....slight flow differences from 2700-3700rpm....dmc's may like a different a/f ratio in that rpm.

singles vs duals

Sparks big core vs Barker duals

The Barkers lead the sparks big core from 5k rpm on up but really starts to shine above 7k rpm making 5.5 more hp @ 8000 and 8.4 @ 8500 rpm!

SPARKS XX6 VS BARKER DUALS
The Barker duals are KING IMO but the SPARKS xx6 packs a good punch following within 1.5 hp of the Barkers from 6500 rpm to redline at HALF the weight. The weight savings is its biggest advantage making both these systems quite even if u can Handle the noise! For inframe exhaust class Hillshooting and flat drag purposes where noise is not an issue the SPARKS XX6 may be the way to go for less weight.... for the regular dune/ trail guys, get yourself a set of MONSTER or BARKER DUALS and be done with it, knowing u have some of the best performing exhaust systems made!

Best and worst systems
Barker Duals vs HMF sport

Duals vs Drag headers from UBETRUN

Being the only drag headers in this test these are the odd man out and count on overall weight reduction with good power as their niche....
Construction is top notch and clean with smooth rolling welds, in a design the is continuously changing and evolving....at a price that everyone can afford, $300
They bolt on in seconds and are LIGHT!
Just because its loud doesn't mean its fast.....these are actually quieter then the VINCO single.
I have yet to run a drag pipe that lays the smack down to the duals on this type of build but new products and designs are coming out daily.

singles vs duals ON A 3 MOD BIKE + IGNITION

BIKE SPEC:
2008 raptor 700, PC3, Pro Design intake, Dynatek prog. ignition, DL custom curves

ROSSIER SINGLE VS MONSTER DUALS
The duals DOMMINATE the single in the top end while sacrificing a small amount of low end..... DUALS FTW!!!!

I posted on another topic did you dyno the DMC force 4 I read somewhere that they were just knockoffs of the Barkers and should perform about the same.

I'll see if I can talk my bro into losing his for a bit after we ride at the end of the month if you're interested. I'm sure it will be similar to the other duals, but I wonder how close ?

DMC basically took Tims Header pipes and megaphones and then put their own cans on.
