    Places in NC

Got this from my NC ATV forum

Below you will find a list of 12 North Carolina Off Highway/Road Vehicle Trail Systems and Reviews' about them.

First here is a great link to most of the NC OHV's:
    NC Natural http://ncnatural.com/NCUSFS/orv.html

North Carolina Motor Sports Park :T/R-28/78
NCMP is located near Louisburg NC. This place offers some of the best woods trails I have ever ridden. But bring your (A) game because some of the stuff will test ever bit of your ability. The trails are nice and tight with lots of very interesting turns. The advanced trails should only be ridden by experts. The New Beginner Trail is Perfect for just cruising with the Family. NCMP offers 2 adult MX tracks. The practice or Intermediate track is perfect for beginners to just putt putt around without being intimidated while still being fun for more advanced riders. The Super-MotoCross Track is Huge and is set up for Advanced and Pro Riders, even if that is beyond your ability you should check out the track cause its fun to watch. The TT Track is Awesome. Smooth, Fast and tons of tight turns. NCMP also offers a 2 Really cool Kids Track were the little ones can play without worrying about some hotshot running them over. The first one is located next to the Intermediate MX track and the second is located behind the Super MotoCross. I highly recommend to anyone to go check this place out. Click the link below and check out NCMP's web site.

    News Update:
NCMP is the Location for the Up and Coming AtvNC Group Ride Oct 28th 29th 30th 2005.

    BUSCO IS THE SHIT!!!!!
    Busco Beach : T/R - 19/74
Busco is located near Goldsboro NC. It offers a diverse combination of terrain to ride. You can choose from "Sand Pits, Fire Roads, Woods Trails, to Massive Mud Holes". The Trail System runs very close to the Nuese River so when the water is up, you can expect tons of mud. If you ride a Sport Quad do not let the Mud-High/Water scary you because this place is great for all types of ATV's with plenty dry sand areas to keep you from spending the whole day trying to get unstuck. Busco has a huge Parking/Camping Area and offers a nice Vending Food Stand. Plus there are Clean Restrooms and Shower. Smiley It even gets better because they also offer a ATV Wash Off Station. Smiley The Lakes Sandy Beaches are very nicely groomed so they make a GREAT place to Swim after a hard days riding. Near the Food stand they have a big stage where Busco brings in Bands to play. Another Bonus is all the Eye Candy minus a frog or two. Smiley I only have 3 complaints and they are, (1. No Kids/Family only Area for the beginners to learn without fear of some hot shot running them over.) (2. Trails are all TWO WAY, which is dangerous and should be changed.) (3. I got charged an entry fee for a quad that WAS NEVER going to be used.) Even with those 3 beefs, Busco has so much Good to offer that I would not hesitate to go back again and again. This place gets my Stamp for "I Highly recommend".

    Wayehutta OHV :
The Wayehutta ATV Trail system is located in the heart of the Southern Appalachians in Cullowhee, North Carolina, in the Roy Taylor Forest which is owned and managed by the US Forest Service. This 28-mile loop trail system utilizes many old logging roads and rail beds used long ago to take the timber down the mountain to market. Since 1990 the Smokey Mountain ORV Club (SMORVC) has worked with the National Forest Service to rework these roads into ideal OHV trails. This unique system twists and turns to the top of the mountain, crossing rocks, bridges and strategically placed mounds of dirt used to control erosion. Trails range from easy to most difficult. Depending on your riding style, it can be a leisurely ride to enjoy the unique scenery or a total work out if you pick up the pace. This is a family oriented trail system that also includes a trail for beginners just off the trailhead where youngsters can hone their skills while parents take a break.

    Trail Difficulty Rating:
Beginner Friendly trails. ( Yes ) Very friendly place for beginners.
Intermediate Fun Trails. ( Yes )
Advanced, Expert Trails. ( Yes ) Like all mountain trail's, some hills can be tough.

Uwharrie OHV believe it or not is located in the Uwharrie National Forest, North West of the town of Troy. The Trail System offer's over 20 miles with three parking access points. The terrain is rocky, with many steep, winding trails. Rock outcroppings and steep drop-offs are common. Trail obstacles range from big whoops, sharp split rocks, stumps, fences, clay and loose gravel bed. A Trail Map can be viewed at each parking location. Beginners would be wise to stay away or off the Trail called Daniel. 6ply tires and skid plates are highly recommended. Wolf Island :
Wolf Island is Located on the outskirts of Reidsville, NC. This Trail System used to be a MX park but now it caters to the Utility 4x4's. The trails have a lot of mud holes and creeks to navigate. There are also a few hills to climb. The MX part of the park still offers a few places for sport riders to practice, but its pretty rough. The lay-out is a good place for beginners to learn how to ride while having fun. This place is not to big so long distance drivers may want to look else-where but for the locals its a blast.

    Cost:
    Daily fee of $5.00

    Directions:
From Greensboro take US-29 North until you come to EXIT-14 HWY 158. At the top of exit turn left. Go to the second stop light and turn right. Go about 1 mile and turn left on to Wolf Island Rd ( just past Joyce's conv store). Go 2.5 miles and turn left onto Mel Ln ( there are 2 drives side by side with a chain link fence splitting them-- you want to turn on the drive on the far right). Go to the end of the road and you will see the Wolf Island parking lot.

    Croatan OHV: T/R - 17/27
Croatan OHV is located in the Croatan National Forest The Croatan National Forest doesn't have designated off-road vehicle areas like other forests in North Carolina. Instead it offers four-wheel "driveways" to let people explore the deeper recesses of the forest. These drive-ways, many of which are dead ends, are scattered throughout the forest. The Trails are supposed to be marked with creosote posts, showing were you can or can not ride. But forget it the signs are a mystery even the great Uwah could not decipher.
Sorry But I Recommend You Skip This Location. ASK ME WHY IN A EMAIL.

Embarrassed I Do not recommend at any price until new management is in control. Ticket happy Rangers act like they are card carrying members of the Serria Club and they seem to not like ATVers at all.

    Cost:
Daily Fee is Free but Rangers charge $100.00.
