GBC Afterburn rear tires

After purchasing a set of Afterburns at the Somerset GNCC I got em mounted up and headed west to Southern Ohio where the John Penton GNCC would be held. The ground here is nothing but stickly clay and when its muddy almost nothing would help but pure momemtum......Till now! I got a great jump off the line with these tires, in fact its the best GNCC start ive ever had!, and it didnt take but half a lap when i came to a bottleneck where off to the right there was a hill that 2 riders were trying to get up and get around this mess. I picked my line and throttled hard and without hesitation the Afterburns dug in to the clay surface and propelled me up the hill no problem! Countless other times i blasted by people up hills all day and even with little to no running room these tires performed! If you ride anywhere it gets muddy and slick, You Will LOVE these tires. O yeah and cornering isnt compremised either. This is a great Tire and I wont even think about running another tire if theres a chance of mud! and at around $65 a peice, you cant go wrong!

How well did they slide on dry ground? Could you tell if they actually rode any better being a radial? Did you run them on beadlocks? What pressure?

I know, I'm full of questions.

did you run a 20" and are they a true 20" or is it like ITP where you buy a 21" tall tire and basically it's a 20"

I think I'm going to buy a set and jump on their contingency program

I havent measured them myself yet but they are an advertised 20" tire, I ran them on a set of Hipers with about 5lbs of air. I didnt have many dry corners to negociate but Overall handling in the woods and the feilds I felt no issues.

Hey Mike if you find out how 2 get into the contingency program give me a shout, or i might just wait till the end of the season and send out a resume to em.

Thanks for the review. I don't think I see enough mud to justify a set but I never would have guessed they'll work so well by looking at 'em. If they work they work

I seen RR45 put these tires in action at the John Penton GNCC ... I was impressed with their performance in those conditions !
