It is bolted on... However the stock basket has the stock gearing rivited on with three large rivets. You need to grind or drill those rivets out to seperate them. Be very careful though, if you slip and damage the stock plastic gear, you have to by the stock gear/basket assembly and start over.. I believe its in the 400+ dollar range....

this is true nate. i had to replace that gear on account of my stock basket breaking apart. the pieces that broke off got jammed in the gears, thus, it needed to be replaced.

also, nate is correct on the install. the stock basket is riveted on. i ground the heads of the rivets off and pounded them out with a punch. then the billet basket bolts on.

they make spetial drill bits for getting rivots out im not sure how much they coast but with the assembly coasting more than $400 i think it would be a good investment.

I ground mine off from the inside of the basket. No danger of getting into the plastic gear and also no grinder marks where the heads of the bolts tighten down for the billet basket.

It's a little harder to grind inside the basket and ya have to grind some of the basket away to get down to where you can punch the rivots out, but it really doesn't make much difference cause the stock basket is just scrap aluminum after ya remove it anyway.
