    DIY tire change !

hey guys ! .. I'm just wondering if anyone have a clue on how I could change the tires on my raptor without bringing them to the dealer ( 40$ a set ) I want to remove the tire from the rim to powdercoat them ...is there some tricks and tips you could share to help me along ?

I have access to presses and full fab shop ... I am a welder and can machine a little bit too .. is there a tool I could make or something to break the beads ?

after the the tire is loose on the rim what do you recommend to get the tire over the lip of the rim ?

I'd like to keep cost down as far as buying tools to do this , I have 5 set of rims total and want to powdercoat them all ....would be 200 $ charge just in tire changes lol

like I said I have access to a fully equipped fab and weld shop and various materials and stock to make something work ,I just need a push in the right direction from someone that did this before

    thank you !

quad tires are a lot hard to remove from the rim than a normal truck tire. good luck with that.

also yes the tire needs to be removed from the rim to powder coat...

they can be changed with some good tire spoons but man they are a bunch of work to do it.

I see they have to bake the powder coating, so how hot does it have to be?

I have to bake it at 400F for 20 minutes... I'm building a bead breaker this week and I'm gonna buy some tire spoons !

i use a mini bead breaker(shown below), and 2 long hd spoons/bars. breaking the bead is easy, place the bead breaker tool on the wheel, use impact or cordless impact to crank down on clamp, then crank down on the bead breaker part of the tool, and itll pop right off the bead. working a bead up and out is a little bit of work. but is still easily obtainable. itll be difficult your first few times working on a bead to remove, but youll develop your own technique and will get a rhythym down to do it.
