The stock 700 clutch is only good for about 62 hp then it starts to smoke quick, in the SAND its worse.... for those of u will lower hr bikes, here is an UPGRADE KIT that will hold u over thru the low 70 hp range and will be a good base with the addition of a LOCKUP for the higher hp bikes....

The CAUSE of a slipping factory clutch lies in the First clutch fiber plate, and return springs...
the first fiber is 1/2 the width of the others and is the one that slips, and u can see by the below picture how black it is (both of these fibers were removed from the same bike)....
The factory uses this 1/2 disc to smooth out clutch engagement by adding a level of slippage:thumbsdown: something that WE dont want :banghead:

The solution is REMOVING the 1/2 fiber plate and both shims, as well as the FACTORY clutch return springs and install a FULL fiber plate and these EXTREEM DUTY clutch return springs and new gasket. :thumb:

Ive went thru 4 different manufactures of return springs and decided to spec out some of my own....

Kits are $65 shipped
Includes:
6 EXTREEM DUTY SPRINGS
1 CLUTCH FIBER
1 OEM GASKET

1/2 vs full disc fiber

That's a nice little kit Daniel. Well thought out too.

Im not gonna quote a % on spring pressure because the quoted pressures seen are WAY OFF...
if the EBC springs are %30 then these are easily %50 stiffer
These springs are the stiffest on the market (ASV shorties not recommended)
comparable to the YFZ RON woods clutch springs... without the name

THE problem with just installing the fiber is it will still slip but will slip all the clutches evenly....the added spring pressure is what makes this setup work well together...

this upgrade it to eliminate as much slip as possible......

u can try 3 springs if u like but i recommend ditching the shorti lever for a standard length and deal with the extra clutch pull...

its always a trade off when upgrading for power

To be honest I can't believe someone didn't come up with a kit like this a long ass time ago, I think it would be a great idea for people just buying new bikes, your stock clutches could last for a long long time with this kit.

depends on the springs and the type of riding... most will only notice a slipping clutch when its too late.. and will just be loosing hp in the meantime...

launching in the sand if the biggest load it will see, and a good clutch vs a slipping one will be the difference between wheeling on a +6 arm or not ...

This is also the same clutch mod done to trx450's. The crf's come with all full sized fibers and the trx comes with the same setup as the raptor. First thing you'll notice is the clutch seems to grab quicker. There's less slip as you let the lever out which is exactly the point of the mod.

I use this kit in my bike and it is a great upgrade. The clutch lever got a little bit tighter, just enough for it to grab faster when power shifting. It definetly grabs way better than before. highly recommend especialy for the $$.:thumb: for a great upgrade
