Default Question about a possible safety issue...

Ok so a friend has sent me this pic and asked if it looked "safe". This is NOT on my a-arm and he is not in my area, so I can't see it in person.

This is the bottom of an a-arm. This is the nut that holds the ball joint in place. Would you guys run an a-arm like that or ask the maker for a replacement?

Well, the safety wire is a damn good thing, but that lock nut has no bite at all on the threads......I would probably ask for an explanation from the manufacturer, as to what the reason for this set-up is....definitely would bother me, unless I knew from someone I trusted that this was OK.

yeah, if it's new, I'd def. ask for a refund or if it's not supposed to be like that, ask for an exchange.

I did a little more research, and this is how the mount is supposed to look from the manufacturer's website...

The nylon part at the end is supposed to lock the nut in place so it does not come losse. From what I can see, it does not even touch the tread, so there is a big chance of it coming lose when riding, i say review intructions and ensure is assembled properly, if it is, then there is a design flaw, ask for a refund.

+1 either that ball joint bolt is way short, or it's not seated.

Yea but look at that washer under the nut, it looks like its sitting about 4-5MM away from the ball.
