804 Throttle Body Issues

I just picked up a fresh built 804 Raptor from a buddy of mine because he needed the money. The bike is a Rocket Factory kit and was put together 2 years ago and never ran. The bike has a billett 54mm throttle body.

The bike wouldnt start when I got it home so I pulled the pump, flushed the tank and cleaned the injector. Bike still wouldnt start so I put a tank, fuel line, fuel rail, injector and throttle body from a stock bike and the 804 ran fine. Then we started to change parts back starting with the tank and fuel line, fuel rail, injector and throttle position sensor, bike still ran fine.

We found that the throttle position sensor was out of position on the 54mm throttle body. When we put all the parts back on the 804(tank, fuel line, fuel rail, injector, tps, throttle body), the bike still runs like it did from the start.

My question, is anything more needed to get a Rocket Factory 54mm billett throttle body to work. Figured I would post a question here to some guys that know thier Raptor 700's.

Sorry for the long post but I figured it would be better to give all the info off the start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just put a wk54mm on mine, runs great. make sure tps is adjusted properly,if useing a larger injector, the pc3 maps are way different!!!
We have adjusted the tps, changed maps and tried a dynatek fuel controller and nothing has worked.

The crazy thing is we put the 54mm tb with the bigger injector, and the dynatek fuel controller on the stock bike and it worked like a champ.

This is really starting to p*** me off, just have to drink more beer I guess
What ignition u have on ur 804 and stock bike?
Both have oem ignition.
Stock coil, Cdi, everything.

I serisously blows my mind this 804 run flawless w a oem throttle body.....
Start with buying a Power commander or New MSD Blaster for the bike
Make sure the wire harness with the Yellow wire center position is going to the TPS and not to the Map sensor
calibrate the tps..

What injector is in the 54mm tb?

once u get it running then get iut to a dynp with Air/Fuel readout and get it tuned

Daniel will get you in the right direction!!
I have a PC3 usb, and the yellow wire tapped and has moved the tps in all directions in very small increments.

Have tried all maps from stock to a custom tune, almost every map on the pc3 and a lot I have found on the web. Reset the TPS many times went through the troubleshoot on the OEM service manual. I know I’m not doing anything wrong because I pull that billet rocket factory 54mm TB off my 804 and put it on the stock 700 and tune the TPS and it runs like a champ. Then reverse the process with the 54 on mine and it will idle a little when you adjust the TPS then touch the gas then dies. But the good old OEM throttle body on the 804 it runs fine. I’ve swapped the little electrical boxed that are on the back of the plastic checked all the fuses and cleaned the plug and switched the plug w a new one. Any Suggestions??
you need to calibrate the tps with a volt meter not move it around it needs to read roughly .7 volts at closed position yellow wire to a ground sometimes you have to cycle key to get a reading. there are 2 different tps sensors based off year they will interchaneg between harness but the sensor part itself doesnt interchange unless you modify it. the shaft that holds the plate will be horizontal or vertical depending on year so you need to get the right tps on the right tb. after that calibrate the tps through the pc3
and its possible you have a bad tps on the wk tb if its same sensor just take it of the oem one and put it on the other.
Ok awesome I'll try that out. I'll keep you posted.

Is there any way to differentiate between the tps. Mines a 2006 and my buddys is a 2007.
yeah they look different they are close but you can tell they are different older style says mikuni on it new ones dont say anything
Ah good call ehs, i was gonna say the same thing, the map sensor as well could be shot.
Ok here’s my update, I put the meter on the TPS and it was at .5 V so I took another TPS off the stock bike (both horizontal shaft) and got it to .7 V (on the 804) but still acted the same and put the TPS that we thought was bad on the other bike and it ran fine. I got it started and sprayed starting fluid all around the intake and TB didn’t die out rev up or anything. Pulled the timing cover and checked to make sure it’s in time and it aligned perfectly. Pulled the stator cover and looked around at the flywheel stator and pickup, all looked fine.

Just so you know what I'm dealing with heres the build sheet

Intake kit with K&N Filter
8mm stroker crank
Valve guides, shortened
Coat tranny gears and shafts
lock up clutch
dyna tek cdi
oil pump
cam chain

machine rocker arms
Use RC injector
top end gasket kit RF
54mm TB w/intake and air filter

Hate to state it again, but runs perfect with OEM TB...........
See less See more
it sounds to me like the fuel map/injector
unhook the dynatek and put it back to stock anytime something weird happens its usually the dynatek if its on there

if it was a old build and the inj was run with some nastier gas it could very well be plugged up you could swap inj and see if it gets better.

I put 12 v and a ground to the injector and it was clicking and opening like it should. ( and u could blow through it) And I put the oem injector in the 54mm tb and same result. Dyna ignition is unhooked thorough this process from day 1. Brand new gas and flushed tank new plug.
