I have an 08 raptor 700 and I run only amsoil 20w50 full synthetic oil. I change the oil every 10 hours. I noticed on the last ride that it makes a loud clunk when I put it into gear, I adjusted the clutch but it is still doing it. The dealer won't talk to me and just says to bring it in, I don't plan on it. I think it is the clutch, I have about 130 hours on the machine with the stock clutch. There is far more knowledge and experience on this site than I have so I am asking if anyone else has experienced this and what it turned out to be. I appreciate the help, thanks

Is that all it does? Just a clunk sound...
it jumps forward a little as well. In the past I have only replaced a clutch when it started to slip, this doesn't slip. I have been told to keep an 1/8" of play in the clutch lever or it is too tight.

go back to a lighter weight oil 10-30 or 0-40

it sounds like the inner hub has started to groove, dissassemble and inspect,,, replace if you can see visable groving

Thanks guys, I will check it out. I got away with filing it down on the last dirtbike I had. I didn't realize grooves would make it do that, I will also try a lighter oil and report back.

IMO this is pretty normal for a raptor. Not sure Id even worry about it. I don't lol. Been on 2 raptors they both click hard into first.
x2

My bikes do that as well and I have had no other issues with them.

so what would be the "best" oil to run? An age old question I know, and I have read much about it. I should say, For the raptor what weight oil? 5w20, 10w30???
