hi, i was wondering about the oil change intervall, i know it depends on how you ride it but after reading through the forum here is mixed opinions about this.
im hearing change after every ride, every other ride and every 5-10 hours, i mean every ride thats overkill? i wonder if some forget that this is a 4 stroke low revving machine.
i plan on riding it everywere, in the woods, trails, gravel roads, pavement, im not doing crazy hillclimbs with it. and i use fully syntetic oil. in the manual it states every 160 hours but i assume that is only mild riding.

thanks for any input.

There are a few factors you left out. What oil are you running? What type of intake and filter do you have? If you are running good quality oil, and are running a good oiled foam filter or paper filter, you could probably run it a full year if its less then 30-40 hours. If you are running a crappy K&N throw it in the garage and get a good filter! lol It lets too much by and contaminates the oil. Anyways, if you doubt what I say, run your oil for 5 hours and send it off to have it analyzed at Blackstone Labs. They can tell you how much life was left. They will advise you then on how many hours to go before your next change.

Unless you ride a ton I would change it at the beginning of every season. You also missed my comment about K&N being junk. Dont get one. Get a good oiled foam filter unless you ride all sand.
