Found these speed mods on the Internet for a Raptor 50. I will be trying them soon and update this thread for accuracy and with pictures.

• Rejet and modify carb: rejet carb, main jet 80, pilot jet 12.5. Replace the slide with part# 2HX-14112-35-00 also need to replace main nozzle with part# 2HX-14141-78-00.
  
• Remove the two screws on throttle housing, you will see a gold bracket you need to replace with part# 36B-2625H-00. NOW YOU HAVE FULL THROTTLE!
  
• Remove all of the air cleaner assembly and install K&N air filter with outerwear.
  
• Replace CDI box with any aftermarket unit that raises the electronic rev limiter.
  
• Replace stock size rims/tires with larger rims/tires for more top end and smaller tires/rims for more low end.

With a combo of these mods its been said you can make a Raptor 50 hit 30mph and beat a stock Raptor 80 or 90.

These are all basically Raptor 80 parts being put on the 50.

What did you expect from a 50? I was actually pretty suprised it tools me (200 pounds) and the kid (30 pounds) around the yard pretty good stock..

haha tim your kid cant even drive it yet and you are already making it more dangerous for him lol. let him drive it stock first and get good then upgrade it. DOES YOUR WIFE KNOW YOU ARE DOING THIS????

He isn't even 2 and he is already taking the controls while I am on the back. Its awesome he can barley span the bars but he knows how to work the throttle. I am going to do the carb mod which will make it jump up to 2300 RPM faster before the limiter kicks in so it wont make it to much more dangerous. Then when he is ready I will plug in the new CDI..:lol:

Did you find and or try all these parts with the part #'s? If so did you see a noticable difference? Or anyone else out there get good results doing some mods? I don't care so much about speed, just want my 5 year old to be able to climb a little bit of a incline at the dunes.

The 50 will really open up after you do these things.. Not sure how much of a dune it will climb but you will see its full potential..

Hi all, I have a 2007 raptor 50 for my 5 Y/O daughter. (6 Y/O son on 90). the 50 tops out at 12 MPH. fun in the yard and parking lots but fu**ing painful following her on the trails. I purchased the CDI upgrade, and plan on removing the slide and cutting 5/16" off the top as well as modifying the throttle assembly spring. Yes I know both parts ost all of $30 but i am a glutton for punishment. Upon completion I will be posting results. I am open for other tips, but am not trying to do anything but increase the top speed by about 10 MPH and I know about the jets and some other tweaks, but I feel I can achieve my goal without the additional items. OH, I plan on possibly replacing the exhaust or getting the exhaust tip for $30 if i cheapo out. IU will keep all posted

Just installed the CDI and off the bat a difference. With myself on it (180 lb adult) got it from 12 MPH to about 16 MPH. a little shaky though, but I feel some carb adjustment can rectafy. now to take the carb apart and cut the slide and cut the throttle limiter in the throttle housing.

Its not made to rev that high. The rev box makes it shake pretty good. I never cut my slide. Filter, rev box and jet and left it alone. With the limited suspension I would not want to be in the trails any faster then that with the 50. Its time to upgrade quads to go any faster.

UPDATE ALL
Went to the trails this weekend and I must say there is a significant difference with the 50 and how it is running and handling. Just to make sure I am clear, I replaced the CDI, cut the slide, and cut the throttle limiter in the thumb throttle housing. On a separate note, if anyone else is reading, upon reassembling the carb, I guess I somehow weirdly adjusted the throttle cable as upon start it revved to where I thought the engine would explode. After some throttle cable adjustments and air.fuel screw adjustments, it ran extremely well (other than a minor stall at idle, which happened even before I touched it.) On the trails she got up to about 18 miles per hour as well as climbed the trail hills with no bog down, stall, or downright needing a push (not the case stock). The suspension/shocks are a total different story as well as the clearance is super close, but that is a different animal within itself and I am sure trails and types of terrain vary based on where you are. But all in all she loved it and did not complain about the vibration just because it was different. I plan on re-jetting the carb and possible swapping out the exhaust. The jet swap i want to do for two reasons. one I feel the stall out is due to a dirty idle jet and I am curious to how it will run with an 80 main and idle jet. worst case I can always clean and re-install old. But the moral of this post, is that I feel it worked and for the roughly $100 investment for the CDI and some of my time, was worth it. Here is a video link showing and hearing what it can do. 25 secs in will show you the power difference, at least I think so

Thanks for the post Wreckless. I just bought a 2004 50cc raptor for my son and it hasn't been running very well since I bought it. everything starts and fires fine when cold butt after half an hour it just stalls and dies. Battery will drain trying to start it but by pushing it it will fire back up again for a couple minutes. Anyways I should be able to fix it no problem, I am going to post pictures of before and after, the build etc... I will keep you guys posted.

So after all these adjustments would youbsay its better to just change the cdi box out?
