Whats up guys ? I'm new here and I have a bit of a problem on my 660r, here's the thing.. my bike backfires and stalls when i give it full throttle whenever im on a gear passed second gear.. I talked to a mechanic about the possibilities of it being a carb issue but he claims that he is 80% sure that Im in need of a new rev box ? But before I go and spend $200 i wanna make sure I'm making the right move.. I'm just wondering what other things could be causing this ? My bike is jetted and I was thinking it was the top end jet until the mechanic I spoke to brought up the rev box.. He also told me that Dynatek makes the only rev box worth buying.. PLEASE HELP i dont want to waste my money if i dont have to

All I have modded on the bike is a Pro Racing Air Filter no lid, ESR Performance Exhaust, and a jet kit

do some searching on the parking brake and reverse rev limiter issues
My bike does not have a parking brake on it, and its not my rev limiter i know that for a fact, I was told by a mechanic that its either a wiring problem leading to the rev box or the rev box itself but I highly doubt it mainly because I have seen other threads and read that rev boxes do not make much difference in most cases, so here is a rookie question.. can rev boxes go bad after a while or just short the rev limit for top end ?

put it on a dyno and pull an a/f reading on it. You say "my bike is jetted" how about some jetting specs on it, that helps.

Just because the mechanical portion of your parking brake has been removed doesn't mean the electrical portion has been disabled.

A rev limiter is a joke... Clean the carbs and check the main jets....dont replace anything electrical... The carbs on these are notoriously clogged up for some reason

Also take note of what jets are in there...you should be around 155 160 on the jets unless you live up real high in the mountains.
