man that thing is ugly, looks like those cheap kids toys from the grocery store.
I would bet its a damn good bike.
I would bet its a damn good bike.
Good for what? Getting a face full of roost? There is a reason Polaris doesn't sell a buttload of irs sport quads. There is more stuff to wear out, and is heavier. Even with a diet they still don't sell many. Don't see a big outcry for them, people want the bike's to be faster and lighter, not heavier and slower. Will it be reliable? Probably. If Honda really wanted to compete with Ktm and Yamaha in the big bore ranks, it would have been a straight axle bike.
The only quad with IRS I've ridden is an Outlander 800. It rode extremely smoothly on rough stuff, but was WAY too heavy for sporty riding.

In a sport quad, I don't see a reall need for the additional ride quality over rough terrain that IRS can provide. I do see, however, the need to be able to extend the rear swing arm for power adder compensation. And I see the need to widen the quad for stability in racing that requires high-speed cornering. I don't think IRS will allow for much, if any, modifications to the basic stance of the quad. So modders will not have many options in this area.

For a utility quad or sport ute, I don't see any reason NOT to get IRS. You won't be needing to modify stance or length, and the IRS can make huge improvements in ride quality, as I stated above. In a utility quad, get a Can-Am. That rear IRS design (licensed from Hummer) is awesome!
When I think of a good bike yes reliability is one of the most important issues how about you?

As you can see and you say yourself, by the design they are not competing with those bikes you mentioned. Our raptor is heavier and slower than the KTM right? Does this make it not a damn good bike?
I didnt say it would be the most popular, I just said "I bet it would be a damn good bike"
I dont know anything but what I hear about the bike but I know by the Design they were going for something different from the raptor or KTM. Mission accomplished.

Who knows what it will be like with mods, it may be a monster, we just dont know. It may kick a raptors ass in the trails, we just dont know.

Raptor Killer? I really dont know but what I do know is it will depend on the terrain most likely.

Heavier, yes. Slower, don't know. I don't expect them to be all the same on speed and excelleration. As far as reliability, I'll put yamaha against honda anyday. But Honda puts themselves in direct competition with the raptor in their own ads. I also am not going to say it will be garbage, it will be for the same people as the polaris, somebody who wants to sit and ride like a utility, but still wants to do a little shifting. I don't personally like honda's, but also know that alot of people do. Every time I stray from a yamaha product, I tend to get burned or disapointed. I always say if your happy with what you bought, you made the right choice. I waited 5 years before buying my second quad, becuse untill the 700 came out, there was nothing on the market that would get me off my banshee, and the engine was blown for 2 years before I got the 700. I wouldn't say some one who buys one is wrong or stupid or anything like that, just not even close to my cup of tea.:thumb:
THis is quoted from anither thread. Thanks SS

This not the end all be all of test to be sure but you get my point. I think what I said is true, I think it will be a damn good bike.

Was that Raptor going up hill? I just can't believe that garbage(not saying "you"are lying). I clocked an 01' Raptor at 79 to 80 bone stock in 01' with my Chevrolet Beretta....It was "slightly and I mean slightly downhill though...Not really "much" of a decline to even mention however it did exist.... Again, not saying you're FOS....but it just doesn't add up to me because I know 1,000% for fact that I clocked him myself.
No, I take no offense to that, Im just saying even one of the mags show the KTM being a tad faster in the top end. What that number is I really dont care. But does it mean that the raptor is less of a "damn fine bike"? That is my point.

I do think the Raptor is like the swiss army quad in that it is really good in everything and great at some things. But I also believe there will be circumstaces that a quad like the honda will shine, but this remains to be seen.
I think the tests were done at a fairly high elevation, hence the slower speeds and longer times.
Them Honda front ends look like Darth Vader, YUCK!

I can agree with all that.....:thumb:

+1 :wtf: Leave it to Honda:lol:

Yeah, that front end is one of the most hideous things I've seen done to a quad in ages. I'll stick with my 700 kthx.
