hello i am new here, i have a question

i own a raptor 700r model 2009 and i want to increase the performance
i got a trinity efi/computer + team alba exhaust + trinity filter
i am thinking of changing the stock sprockets to a 15t/42t , i don't know anything about sprockets and what's their outcome

The purpose of me changing sprockets is because i want a fast start , i don't care about top speed, i am usually on 2nd and 3rd gear mostly.

So what do you guys suggest? thank you. :thumb:

If it were me I'd start with buying a 13T front sprocket and run it with the stock 38T rear. That will be a lower ratio (more power to the tires) than the 15/42 will and it will be cheap and let you know if that's the direction you want to go.
Sprockets work like this:

Divide the rear teeth by the front teeth: 38 divided by 14 = 2.71
38 divided by 13 = 2.92
42 divided by 15 = 2.80

Large number after the = is lower gear ratio and more power and quicker starts.
You just have to experiment with the conditions you ride in and see what works best with your machine.

For better hole shots drop 1 tooth in the front. You can have more range of adjustability by going up in one tooth increments in the rear. Ive been through this before and you either have to remove links out of the chain to run a smaller front or add them if you add more teeth to the rear!

Believe stock is 14/38 for all years. For bottom end that you said u are looking for, you are getting good advice to drop one tooth in the front and leave rear at 38. You don't want to run 13/42 as that is too low for anything but pulling stumps. One tooth in front equals about 3 in the back, so if you go to 42 in the back that's like running lower than 12 in the front. Start with 13/38 and go from there.

13/42 pull more than 13\42. but easiest and less cost solution is just put a 13 tooth in front. you will see de difference.
He ment 13/42 pull more than 13/38

No way would I go lower than 13/38. I tried it but went back to stock. 13/38 to me felt like I had to shift way too much could barely get the clutch out before time to shift again and 1st was almost unusable. I have really liked the stock gearing for all around riding. but hey front sprokets are cheap try it for yourself.

Those look like 22 inch zippers or 4snows they grow a decent amount causing your gear ratio to get higher rather than lower which is what your looking for... You should see a big difference by dropping a tooth on the front sprocket (13) Stock gearing is 14 up front and 38 in the rear. I hope this helps:thumb:
