A few months ago I bought my wife a 2001 warrior so she could ride with my son and I. She never had any interest in the manual transmission. So it just sits in my trailer.
I saw a 450 wolverine and the automatic appeals to me for her. My question is this, do any of you have experience with these? I know she will enjoy it but is it something I'm always going to have to wrench on?
Also, there are times I'd ride the warrior when I was out knocking around with my son. How's it feel? My raptor doesn't like 20mph and below lol
I think the Yamaha Wolverine 450 is one of the best, All around, anyone can ride, at any ability (even you will have a blast on one) I have had two in our family and my buddy has one for their extra/wife's quad, not too much power, but they have enough power to go most places & the 4x4 to get them out of trouble, not as heavy as most utilty quads cuz of the rear straight axle instead of independent & smaller tires , slide corners great, and looks like a "Fat Raptor ", if the price is right, IMO one of the best quad's that you can get for an extra, wife's or do all, go most any where quad's..
Good job, Im sure you will be happy with it, all ready has a slip on, on one of mine I did the GYTR slip on, a CDi box, aftermarket intake and re-jetted and a very noticable difference (if your like me and can't leave well enough alone) lol..
A 2006 wolverine 450 was my first quad, I really enjoyed it. They aren't speed machines, but the acceleration from 0-40 is pretty decent, so it keeps it fun on the trails. Over the 4 years that I owned it, the only wrenching I ever had to do was regular oil changes and tinkering around with modding it.
Like jogaca said, a few little mods really wake them up. I ran a HMF pipe, k&n filter, jetted carb and hauck performance machined clutch sheave in mine, and it definitely pulled a lot harder than stock and bumped up the top speed a little bit.
IMO, they look pretty damn cool for a 4x4 too. I ended up giving this quad to my girlfriend after I bought my Raptor....it was a great machine for her. But once we got the RZR, she rarely drove it...so I ended up selling it, which I definitely regret. It was a great trail machine, I should have kept it just for that.
Thats a sweet Wolverine Langford, you did a great job on it, they are a great little sport/utility quad..
